Adult Strings 2019 was FANTASTIC! We’ll post the group photo as soon as possible. Mark the dates for next year: August 21-23, 2020.
This weekend is for amateur adult players of violin, viola, cello, and string bass! Orchestra for all with elective class options including Positions and Shifting, Chamber Music, Sight Reading and Practice Strategies, Mindfulness, and more! Instructors include orchestra conductor Mr. Joe Lee, Resident Conductor, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, and Dr. Anne C. Witt, Faculty, the University of Alabama School of Music. Add-on options include a Friday Chamber Music Intensive with professional coaching, a group dinner, and t-shirt.
*If adding-on the Chamber Music Intensive (Friday 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.), please enroll by July 15 so we can get your music to you in advance of the session.
*If seeking a private lesson during your time at ASW, email firstname.lastname@example.org as this would be an add-on to the ASW.

LODGING: There will be a music festival in Tuscaloosa the same dates as ASW so don’t wait to secure your lodging! There are several hotel options within a short drive of campus.
Hotel Capstone is the lodging option within walking distance to Moody Music Bldg. There is a reserved block of 9 rooms under “Adult Strings Workshop” at Hotel Capstone. Rooms in this block must be booked by mid-night on August 1.

PARKING: A campus covered parking deck ($1/hour on Friday; .50/hour Saturday/Sunday, only takes cards) surface parking, and street parking is available within walking distance of Moody Music Bldg.
Saturday Lunch: This meal is included in your ASW enrollment. This year we will stay at Moody and enjoy a catered meal while listening to a live performance including a discussion and a Q/A for participants. We hope this music will inspire you and provide an opportunity to engage with the performers.
Saturday Group Dinner: ASW participants enjoy meeting at a local restaurant for dinner on Saturday. Attendance is optional. In contrast to past years, this option is not offered as an enrollment Add-On (ie participants pay for their own meal at the venue) which allows each person to select from the entire menu. We are scheduled at 5:00 p.m. at River, which has a lovely view of the Black Warrior River.
